Intro to Visual Communication – Project #4

“Happy Halloween”

My intent for this design was to provide an ominous/creepy feeling, almost like something out of a horror movie. My intent was based off of one of the twelve Design Principles from Nature, “Design from patterns to details.” In Design By Nature, one of the questions this principle asks is “What sort of environment will it (your design) be received in?” This felt appropriate because Halloween is only weeks away. I took the picture of the tree the way I did because from that angle, the tree looks almost like a silhouette without texture. That and the shadow coming from the tree towards the viewer work together perfectly. To make this feeling of fear and uncertainty even more powerful, the picture was taken at an angle and a tint of red was added to the picture.
